• CMAI, together with the CFD Center is pleased to welcome Randy Price as postdoctoral associate starting September 2021. Randy obtained his PhD from University of Maryland Baltimore County under the guidance of Prof. Animikh Biswas and Prof. Bedřich Sousedík.
• CMAI postdoc Akwum Onwunta will start as a tenure-track Assistant Professor at The Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) department of Lehigh University in Fall 2021. Congratulations Akwum!
• CMAI is pleased to welcome Evelyn Herberg as postdoctoral associate beginning Fall 2021. Evelyn obtained her PhD under the guidance of Prof. Michael Hinze in Koblenz, Germany.
• Starting July 1, 2021, H. Antil has accepted co-Editor in Chief position, together with Enrique Zuazua (Germany) and Xue-Cheng Tai (Hong Kong), for Springer journal Advances in Continuous and Discrete Models.

• PhD student Deepanshu Verma successfully defends his PhD titled “Optimal Control Problems Constrained by Fractional PDEs and Applications to Deep Neural Networks”. May 2021.

• PhD student Deepanshu Verma has won a prestigious internship at Lawerence Livermore National Laboratory for Summer 2021. He will be working with Dr. Boyan Lazarov.
• Deepanshu Verma will join the group of Prof. Lars Ruthotto as a Distinguished Visiting Assistant Professor at Emory University starting August 2021.
• H. Antil and Rainald Loehner’s project on “simulations of air flows to understand, minimize, and suppress the spread of pathogens such as COVID-19” has been chosen by NSF as Research Highlight.  
• H. Antil joins the prestigious Gene Golub SIAM Summer School Committee (starting Jan 1, 2021)

• We have published the article “Detailed Simulation of Viral Propagation In The Built Environment” in Computational Mechanics to model and simulate flow of viral particles in hospital, classroom, TSA queues etc. setting. August 2020.
• CMAI has been running a very popular CMAI Colloquium Series during Summer 2020, the series will continue during Fall 2020 as well.
• CMAI will be running the weekly SAYAS NUMERICS SEMINAR every Tuesday jointly with University of  Maryland College Park, University of Maryland Baltimore County, and University of Delaware in Fall 2020.
